During the second part of our business trip to Slovakia, we returned to Košice — this time to visit the completed reconstruction of OC Urban, formerly known as Prior. Seeing a completed project directly on site and in day-to-day operation is always important for us. It allows us to verify that the proposed solution works in practice and, at the same time, to evaluate the decisions made in the early stages of project preparation.

In the case of OC Urban, it was positive to see that the reconstructed building functions well in real operation and fulfils its intended role within urban retail, even though the cinema, which was also part of the original plan, has not yet been completed. Such visits are valuable not only for checking the final result, but also for transferring know-how to future projects: what worked, where the critical coordination points were, and what needs to be addressed already during the concept-setting phase.

ABMV was involved in the project in two key roles:

• as a concept architect, helping to define the direction of the solution, including the main principles of layout, operational links and connections,
• and as a project manager, ensuring process coordination, continuity between individual steps and preservation of the project intent through to handover.

We would like to thank the entire project team for maintaining a shared direction from the first decisions through to completion and handover into operation.
